NetEase Games and Naked Rain have unveiled a brand-new seven-minute gameplay trailer for ANANTA, the upcoming free-to-play urban open world RPG that blends slice-of-life immersion with flashy, improvisational combat. The reveal arrives just ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2025, where the title will be a major showcase for the publisher. ANANTA is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile platforms.
Life in a Living City
ANANTA’s world is designed as a fully breathing metropolis where routine meets chaos. From petting stray cats to stumbling into gang clashes, the game encourages players to explore every corner and see what unfolds. NPCs move and react with realistic behaviors, ensuring that every alley, plaza, or nightclub feels alive with possibility.
Beyond sightseeing, player actions matter: you can snoop on phone calls, break traffic laws in reckless street races, or soak in the neon glow of the nightlife. Choices ripple through the city, making every decision feel consequential.
Combat Without Limits
The game’s combat system thrives on creativity, allowing players to improvise with environmental weapons like trash cans, golf clubs, and more. Encounters are dynamic, influenced by terrain and props, with mechanics like precise dodges, parries, and counterattacks.
Players can also disarm foes or grab their weapons mid-battle, opening up new strategies and flashy finishers. It’s a system designed to capture the feel of a fast-paced action movie.
Exploration Across Every Layer
ANANTA promises free traversal and exploration through its “ultra-free 3C” system, with swinging and climbing that allow players to reach any destination in sight. Vehicles expand the possibilities further: taxis, cars, subways, helicopters, and even buses can all be used to navigate the city or, in some cases, complete missions.
Multiple Roles, Endless Stories
As the captain of a special task force, players can slip into multiple roles to experience the city from new perspectives. Whether acting as a cop, hacker, delivery driver, or livestreamer, each identity carries its own narrative threads and mechanics, further blurring the line between everyday life and the extraordinary.
Embracing the Unexpected
One of ANANTA’s biggest selling points is its embrace of the bizarre. A toilet with legs sprinting down the street? That’s par for the course here. The city is built with a balance of cozy details and surreal oddities, offering surprises around every corner. Interiors across rooftops, mid-levels, and ground floors are accessible, giving the metropolis vertical as well as horizontal depth.
ANANTA is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious showcases at Tokyo Game Show 2025, bringing anime-inspired visuals, freeform gameplay, and an urban city brimming with both charm and chaos.
