Persona5: The Phantom X Version 2.0 Update Adds New Story and Characters

SEGA has released the first major update for Persona5: The Phantom X (P5X), marking a huge milestone since its global launch earlier this summer. Version 2.0 introduces Chapter 3: Unconditional Love, a brand-new playable character, fresh areas to explore, and a slate of login bonuses and limited-time events.

A New Chapter Begins

Chapter 3: Unconditional Love deepens the Phantom Thieves’ story as the protagonist and his allies confront a mysterious new teacher at Kokatsu Academy. Beneath his claims of “righteous reform,” the school begins to twist into something sinister. Riko Tanemura, chair of the disciplinary committee, emerges as a key figure, questioning the distortions taking hold.

Riko also joins the Phantom Thieves under the codename Wind, serving as a strategist and support character. Her skills boost the team’s survivability and amplify All-Out Attacks by up to 60%, making her a valuable addition both in battle and in narrative weight.

New Phantom Thieves and Weapons

Alongside Riko, Version 2.0 introduces Ayaka Sakai (codename: Chord), a new ★5 Phantom Thief specializing in buffs and Highlight synergy. Players can recruit her through the Most Wanted Phantom Idol Contracts: Dazzling Encore event, available until October 8. Ayaka’s exclusive weapon is also obtainable in concurrent Arms Deals.

Fan-favorite Ren Amamiya also returns as a ★5 Phantom Thief, along with his Phoenix Dagger weapon, giving players another shot at recruiting the original Phantom Magician.

Explore Kichijoji

The update adds Kichijoji as a new explorable area, expanding city-life gameplay with additional part-time jobs, characters, and stories. Real-world collaborations tied to Tokyo’s Kichijoji district are also planned, with details teased on the official website.

  • 7-Day Login Rewards (until Oct. 22): 20 Platinum Tickets, 20 Platinum Milicoins, 60 Phantom Thief Cognitite Shards, 1,000 Meta Jewels.
  • Chapter 3: Unconditional Love Release Event: Earn up to 1,280 Meta Jewels and collect Mizuhiki Knots to unlock Riko’s exclusive ★4 weapon, Red Plum Blossom.
  • New Feature – Tasks: Once players hit level 20, they can send allies on timed missions to earn Meta Jewels, Cognitite Shards, and other rewards.

The Ultimate School RPG Grows

With new Phantom Thieves, expanded gameplay systems, and deeper story content, Persona5: The Phantom X’s Version 2.0 update marks the beginning of the game’s next major phase. Whether you’re chasing Ren’s return, meeting Ayaka, or exploring Kichijoji, plenty is waiting in this ever-growing spin-off of ATLUS’s iconic series.

Persona5: The Phantom X is available now on iOS, Android, Steam, and Google Play Games as a free-to-play title with optional purchases.
