Devolver Digital and solo developer Sam Eng have announced that Skate Story will be launching on Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, joining its previously confirmed PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. Players will soon be able to shred through the underworld on the go, in one of the most surreal skating experiences yet.
In Skate Story, you take on the role of a demon composed of glass and pain. The Devil strikes a deal: Skate to the Moon, swallow it, and be freed from your torment. It’s an odd premise, but one that beautifully blends skateboarding culture with dreamlike surrealism.
Brand-New Gameplay Trailer
A fresh trailer has been released, showcasing never-before-seen gameplay. The footage highlights the game’s unique mix of smooth skateboarding mechanics and eerie, otherworldly environments, all wrapped in a gorgeously fractured visual style.
From the ashen depths to haunting neon skies, every kickflip, ollie, and grind feels both stylish and dangerous, as failing means literally shattering into pieces. But progression isn’t just about tricks; you’ll also battle demonic creatures and rescue lost souls, layering combat and exploration onto the core skating mechanics.
Style Meets Damnation
The combination of buttery skating, combat, and surreal storytelling makes Skate Story one of the most intriguing indie titles on the horizon. The official site teases a world where every trick pushes you closer to freedom from an unholy curse, all set to a hypnotic soundtrack.
With the Switch 2 version confirmed, skating purists and indie fans alike can look forward to experiencing this underworld odyssey wherever they go.
