Vertigo Games, in collaboration with Maze Theory and Eidos-Montréal, has unveiled an extended look at Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, the upcoming fully immersive stealth adventure launching later this year on PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S, and Steam VR.
The new gameplay premiere video, hosted by Dan Maher, takes viewers inside a special preview event in London.
A Classic Stealth Legacy, Reimagined in VR
Set in a dark, steampunk-inspired city ruled by Baron Ulysses Northcrest, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow casts players as Magpie, a streetwise thief forced to steal to survive until the discovery of a legendary artifact reveals a greater destiny.
For the first time, fans can step into the shadows of Thief in full VR, blending classic stealth with modern immersion:
- Tactile Interactions – Physically pickpocket guards, pry open compartments, and bypass locks with your hands.
- VR Archery & Tools – Use specialized arrows and gear to distract, disable, or eliminate threats.
- Multiple Paths – Climb rooftops, sneak through alleys, and adapt your playstyle to every heist.
First Reactions Highlight the Immersion
At the London premiere event, creators and press had their first hands-on with Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, praising its sense of presence, stealth mechanics, and the way classic Thief gameplay translates into VR’s fully embodied perspective.
