Blue Backpack Games, alongside co-publishing partners ByteRockers Games and Parco Games, has released a brand-new demo for its upcoming hand-drawn metroidvania Constance. The demo is now available on Steam, arriving just ahead of the game’s participation in Steam Next Fest, which kicks off on October 13.
This early demo offers fans a chance to experience Constance’s fluid platforming, rhythmic combat, and painterly world design before its PC launch on November 24, with releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 coming later.
Paint the World, Master the Flow
Constance is a 2D metroidvania that combines fast-paced precision gameplay with expressive, painterly visuals. Drawing inspiration from acclaimed titles like Hollow Knight and Celeste, the game explores themes of mental health, creativity, and personal growth through an innovative flow-based combat and traversal system.
Players control Constance, an artist who can transform into paint to dive through walls, slice through enemies, and dash through the air using powerful brush techniques. Each move feels like part of a kinetic dance, but mastery comes with balance. Overusing abilities corrupts your paint, pushing players to find harmony between expression and control.
As players progress, they’ll unlock new techniques, face formidable foes, and solve intricate puzzles while uncovering Constance’s emotional journey and the struggles that fuel her creative awakening.
From the Team Behind The Berlin Apartment
Blue Backpack Games isn’t slowing down alongside Constance; the studio’s narrative adventure, The Berlin Apartment, is also gearing up for launch on November 17 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. A demo for The Berlin Apartment is likewise available now on Steam, offering another look into the studio’s storytelling-driven design philosophy.
Flow Into the Demo Today
Players can download the Constance demo right now on Steam and experience its seamless blend of artistry and precision gameplay ahead of Steam Next Fest.
