At the Halo World Championship 2025, Halo Studios officially announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a complete remake of the legendary Halo: Combat Evolved built entirely in Unreal Engine 5. The remake promises a faithful yet modernized retelling of the original 2001 campaign that defined the Xbox era and helped shape the modern first-person shooter genre. With cutting-edge visuals, refined controls, and expanded systems, Halo: Campaign Evolved looks to honor the classic story of Master Chief while bringing it to life for a new generation of players.
Modern Upgrades and New Additions
Halo: Campaign Evolved reimagines the original experience. Players can look forward to three brand-new missions that expand the story, alongside new weapons, vehicles, and enemy types that fit naturally into the established Halo universe. The remake also brings modern multiplayer-friendly upgrades, including two-player split-screen co-op on consoles and up to four-player online co-op with cross-play and cross-progression support across all platforms. Every level has been rebuilt from the ground up, retaining the essence of Bungie’s original design while adding new environmental storytelling, improved physics, and enhanced lighting that takes full advantage of Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities.
Beyond visuals and gameplay, Halo Studios is also focusing on accessibility and player customization. The remake includes fully modernized control layouts, scalable difficulty options, and improved quality-of-life features to ensure it remains approachable for both veterans and newcomers alike.
