Koei Tecmo and legendary producer Kou Shibusawa have announced Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake: Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle, a massive tactical strategy experience launching January 29, 2026, on PC via Steam.
The release marks the 40th anniversary of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, one of Koei Tecmo’s most iconic franchises. Alongside the announcement, the publisher also revealed a new announcement trailer and an official 40th anniversary website celebrating four decades of the long-running historical simulation saga.
A Definitive Remake with New Systems and Scenarios
The Destiny and Strategy Expansion Pack Bundle combines the large-scale remake of Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 with a suite of new gameplay additions designed to deepen strategy and replayability.
Among the key features are new systems like “Gems”, which alter character growth paths each playthrough, and “Turning Points,” which can dramatically shift the tide of battle depending on world events, disasters, or timing.
Players can take on roles as rulers, viceroys, governors, tacticians, common officers, chieftains, or free officers, each with unique commands and evolving strategic possibilities. The expansion also introduces new traits, events, and Parliament and City commands, along with five new fictional scenarios, improved editing tools, and full Chinese voice support.
Together, these elements aim to create what Koei Tecmo describes as a “unique and limitless Three Kingdoms experience.”
Early Purchase and Pre-Order Bonuses
Fans who pre-order the game will receive the exclusive “Guan Yu Advances” scenario. At the same time, those who purchase the digital edition within two weeks of launch will unlock the “Loyal Han Retainer Ma Teng” scenario as an early purchase bonus.
