Tokyo-based publisher Shueisha Games and solo developer Koeda have announced that their strategic deck-building roguelite ANTHEM#9 will officially launch on Steam in February 2026. Previously targeting Winter 2025, the delay gives the team additional time to polish the gem-matching battler ahead of release.
The update arrived during The Best Indie Games Winter Showcase, which also included a fresh look at ANTHEM#9’s cast of playable heroes and a confirmation that the game’s original soundtrack will be released separately on Steam at a later date.
A new release date trailer gives fans another look at its high-speed skill chaining and vibrant aesthetic.
A Delay for Quality, and a Team Committed to Refinement
In a message shared during the showcase, Koeda explained that the shift to February ensures they can deliver the strongest version of the game possible.
“We are working with all our strength to raise the overall quality,” Koeda said. “Thank you for your patience—we can’t wait to share the final game with you.”
The trailer also spotlighted Beni, one of the game’s lead characters a determined martial artist hero who specializes in turning matched gems into shields, healing bursts, and juggernaut-level attack buffs. Beni’s entire kit revolves around stacking enhancements until she becomes either an unstoppable wall or a devastating force of justice.
Gem Matching Meets Turn-Based Tactics
ANTHEM#9 blends turn-based strategy, deck-building, and match-three puzzle mechanics into a roguelite loop built around fast reactions and long-term planning.
Players match red, green, and blue gems to trigger skills, chain together massive combos, and dismantle bosses with increasingly elaborate builds. Progression happens through:
- Procedurally generated dungeons
- Collectible skills
- Powerful Blessings
- Customizable decks
Every run pushes players to experiment with new synergies, build paths, and combo logic promising tons of replay value for strategy fans.
