Com2uS has announced that it has officially begun development on Gachiakuta: The Game (working title), a new console and PC action RPG based on the globally popular anime and manga series Gachiakuta. The title is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam, aiming to translate the anime’s raw atmosphere and striking visual identity into an interactive experience.
The announcement positions the project as a full-scale action RPG designed specifically for console and PC platforms, rather than a mobile-focused adaptation.
Reimagining Gachiakuta as a Survival Action RPG
Gachiakuta: The Game is being developed as a stylish survival-action RPG, drawing heavily on the anime’s harsh worldview and graffiti-inspired aesthetic. Players will enter monster-infested zones, take on missions, and fight to return safely to secure areas, emphasizing risk, progression, and survival.
Com2uS aims to preserve the anime’s intense combat and rebellious tone, while adapting it into gameplay systems optimized for controller-based play and high-performance PC environments.
Anime’s World and Themes at the Core
Originally created by manga artist Kei Urana, with graffiti design by Hideyoshi Andou, Gachiakuta tells the story of Rudo, a boy born into the slums of a floating city divided by extreme inequality. After being falsely accused of murder, Rudo is cast into the abyss below, where discarded waste has given rise to monstrous beings.
To survive and uncover the truth, Rudo must join the Cleaners, a group that battles the trash beasts of the Pit. The series is known for tackling themes of discrimination, authority, and social conformity, all wrapped in explosive action and a visually distinct art style.
First Teaser Revealed Following Anime Season Finale
On December 21, immediately following the broadcast of the anime’s second season finale in Japan, Com2uS released the first teaser video for Gachiakuta: The Game via Japanese television and the game’s official YouTube channel.
The teaser offers an early look at the game’s tone, showcasing key characters, fast-paced action, and the gritty atmosphere fans expect from the series. While gameplay details remain limited, the footage highlights cel-shaded visuals and dynamic combat inspired by the anime.
Expanding the Gachiakuta Universe
Com2uS emphasized its close collaboration with Kodansha, noting that the company is actively involved in multiple anime production committees, including Gachiakuta. The partnership aims to expand the franchise’s global reach across multiple media platforms.
“Gachiakuta is a powerful series that blends explosive action with deep philosophical messages,” Com2uS stated. “We aim to expand its appeal through a game that allows fans to fully immerse themselves in its world.”
With the Gachiakuta anime adaptation produced by Bones Film and set to premiere in July 2025, the game represents another significant step in building the franchise into a multi-platform global IP.
