Bubsy 4D Launches May 22 on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC

Atari and Fabraz have confirmed that Bubsy 4D will launch on May 22, 2026, marking the character’s first full 3D outing since 1996. The game is headed to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows, and GOG, priced at $19.99.

Alongside the digital release, Atari has opened pre-orders for a physical Collector’s Edition on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, available exclusively through Atari’s official website.

A 3D Return Decades in the Making

Bubsy 4D is positioned as a modern take on the series’ platforming roots, built around free-flowing movement and expressive character animation. Fabraz is aiming to balance nostalgia with updated mechanics, giving Bubsy more control and momentum than past entries while leaning into a lighter, self-aware tone.

The game stars Bubsy T. Bobcat on a quest to recover the Golden Fleece after it’s stolen by the BaaBots. That chase sends players across multiple alien planets, each built around fabric- and craft-inspired themes. Every planet ends with a BaaBot boss fight, pushing players to master Bubsy’s movement options.

Platforming, Customization, and Online Challenges

Throughout Bubsy 4D, players will run, jump, glide, and roll through colorful levels while collecting blueprints that unlock new abilities. These upgrades expand Bubsy’s move set over time, encouraging replay and experimentation.

Customization also plays a role. Bubsy can be dressed in new outfits found during exploration, adding a cosmetic layer to progression. For players who like competition without direct multiplayer, online time trials let you race against ghost data from other players to chase faster clear times.

Familiar characters like Terri, Terry, Virgil, and Oblivia return as well, tying the new entry back to the franchise’s past. The soundtrack comes from Fat Bard, bringing a funky tone that matches the game’s playful presentation.
