Grave Seasons is set to launch on August 14, 2026, with Blumhouse Games and Perfect Garbage confirming the narrative-driven farming sim horror game is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. It will also hit Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Revealed during the latest Xbox Partner Preview, Grave Seasons takes the familiar structure of a cozy farming sim and twists it into something much darker. You are still growing crops and building relationships, but you are also trying to figure out who or what is murdering the people of Ashenridge before the body count climbs any higher.
A farming sim with a killer in town
That contrast is the whole appeal of Grave Seasons. On one side, it looks like the kind of pixel-art life sim you already know: farming, town life, and getting close to the people around you. On the other hand, it is built around a supernatural serial killer picking off townsfolk while you try to uncover the truth.
It is a smart hook because the cozy farming space is crowded, and Grave Seasons at least has a clear identity. The murder mystery adds more tension to everyday routines, and it should make every conversation and relationship feel a little less safe than they would in a standard small-town sim.
The game will focus on narrative, investigation, and the secrets hidden around Ashenridge, which sounds like the real thing, pulling the farming systems together.
New trailer offers another look before launch
The newly released trailer gives players a fresh look at gameplay ahead of the August release. From the way the game is being pitched, Grave Seasons aims to balance its horror setup with the slower rhythms of crop harvesting and social interaction, rather than dropping one side of the concept for the other.
That balancing act will matter. A lot of games can sell a strange premise in a trailer. The harder part is making the farming, relationship-building, and murder investigation all feel like parts of the same game rather than separate systems stitched together. Still, the idea is strong enough that Grave Seasons has become one of the more interesting indie horror releases on the calendar.
PAX East demo goes live this weekend
Players who want to try Grave Seasons before launch will be able to check out its first public demo at PAX East. Blumhouse Games is making its first gaming convention appearance at the show, where attendees can experience the game hands-on at booth 19049.
The booth is being set up as a living horror home styled after a Blumhouse Productions film, which is exactly the kind of branding move you would expect from Blumhouse. It is a little obvious, but it fits. If nothing else, it gives Grave Seasons a stronger show-floor identity than a standard demo kiosk.
Blumhouse’s PAX East presence will also include panels, playable sessions for Crisol: Theater of Idols, and daily giveaways for attendees.
One of summer’s stronger indie hooks
The best thing Grave Seasons has going for it is that it knows the contrast it is selling. Cozy games are everywhere. Murder mysteries are everywhere, too. Putting the two together in a way that actually feels tense is what could make this one worth paying attention to.
If Perfect Garbage can make the investigation side matter as much as the farming and social systems, Grave Seasons could end up being one of the more memorable indie releases this summer.
