Swedish developer Something We Made and co-publisher popagenda have announced that TOEM 2 will launch this summer on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC. The reveal came during Nintendo’s latest Indie World presentation, confirming that players won’t have long to wait to return to the series’ cozy, photography-driven world.
The sequel follows the success of TOEM: A Photo Adventure, the BAFTA-winning original that charmed players with its hand-drawn monochrome style and relaxing pace. To celebrate the announcement, the original game is currently available at a steep discount on Nintendo Switch in select regions.
According to Something We Made co-founder Niklas Mikkelsen, the team has built TOEM 2 to run at 60 frames per second on the original Nintendo Switch hardware, a technical goal the studio continues to prioritize as development wraps up.
A New Photo Adventure Awaits
In TOEM 2, players lace up their sneakers, grab their camera, and set off on a relaxing journey inspired by the mysterious phenomena known as TOEMs. Designed to welcome both returning fans and newcomers, the sequel expands on the original’s gentle exploration and puzzle-solving foundation.
Players can freely run, jump, and climb through newly crafted environments filled with hidden paths and scenic viewpoints. The world is built to reward curiosity, encouraging players to wander at their own pace and let their camera guide them toward unexpected discoveries.
The upgraded camera introduces new attachments that expand puzzle-solving possibilities, allowing players to document wildlife, assist quirky characters, and creatively tackle environmental challenges. Along the way, a journal stamp system tracks progress, rewarding completed quests and discoveries while unlocking access to new regions.
True to the spirit of the original, TOEM 2 emphasizes relaxation over pressure. There are no time limits or strict completion requirements; players are free to sit on a bench, listen to music, and simply soak in the cozy atmosphere.
