Realmsoft and OI Games have announced that Clockwork Ambrosia will launch on Steam on May 12, 2026. The upcoming weapon-building Metroidvania has been in development for 14 years, with the team describing it as a long-running passion project built around fast-paced 2D action and deep weapon customization.
The announcement also included a statement from Realmsoft founder and developer Nathan Hiemenz, who said the team set out to make a Metroidvania where creativity sits at the center of the experience.
A Metroidvania Built Around Custom Weapons
Clockwork Ambrosia puts players in control of Iris, an airship engineer who ends up stranded on the island of Aspida after a crash. What starts as a fight to stay alive becomes a larger mystery as Iris explores an island where the population has vanished, replaced by hostile machines and strange creatures.
The game’s main hook is its modular weapon system. Players can build their own arsenal using a wide range of upgrades, shaping weapons into different tools for combat. Realmsoft says that includes everything from shot splitters that cover large parts of the screen to missile barrages and precision sniper-style attacks.
Exploring Aspida and Uncovering Its Secrets
Clockwork Ambrosia is set across a steampunk-inspired world filled with distinct regions, including sky cities, mushroom forests, and sunken ruins. As Iris moves through the island, she will meet a cast of unusual characters while trying to piece together what happened to Aspida.
The game combines classic interconnected exploration with a crafting and progression system that lets players unlock abilities and weapon options at their own pace. The full release will also feature six different weapons, more than 150 modifications, hand-drawn art, and an original score from Johnny Stixx.
Launch Set for May 12
Clockwork Ambrosia launches May 12, 2026, on PC via Steam. After more than a decade in development, the game’s release is now close at hand.
