Crop has been announced as a new single-player farming thriller from Carbonara Games, with 11 bit studios taking on publishing duties for the project.
Developed by a three-person team in Norway, Crop blends farming and management systems with psychological horror and investigative storytelling. The game centers on a fading homestead and a village on the brink of starvation, where players must grow crops, maintain the land, and uncover the truth behind the place they have been brought to.
A farming sim built around mystery and dread
In Crop, players are tasked with feeding an isolated village while working a deteriorating farm. The game combines familiar farming activities like digging, planting, irrigating, and harvesting with a darker narrative focused on buried secrets, decay, and the growing sense that something is deeply wrong.
As players work the land, they will also investigate the surrounding town, searching for answers about why it has been cut off from the outside world and what is watching in the shadows.
Farming, maintenance, and survival
The game’s systems include organizing crop layouts, digging trenches, installing pumps, repairing equipment, producing compost, and cutting back overgrown grass to prevent pests. According to 11 bit studios, players will need to manage time, inventory, and resources carefully in order to keep the farm productive.
That routine forms the core of the experience, but Crop gradually layers in more tension and mystery as players continue working and uncovering more about the homestead and the surrounding land.
A new publishing project for 11 bit studios
With Crop, 11 bit studios is continuing its publishing efforts by backing smaller projects with a distinct creative direction. The company describes the game as a darker take on the farming genre, combining management systems with a story-driven thriller structure.
A release date and platforms have not yet been announced.
