Maverick Games has officially unveiled Clutch, a cinematic open-world action-driving game from studio founder and former Forza Horizon creative director Mike Brown. The title is set to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The announcement marks the debut project from the independent UK-based studio, which includes several veteran developers from the racing genre.
Racing Meets Crime Drama
At the center of Clutch is a story-driven campaign that blends professional motorsport with underground street-racing culture.
Players will follow a pair of sibling racing prodigies competing in the R1K, a prestigious racing series that has served as the proving ground for elite drivers for more than a century. Beyond the spotlight of professional racing lies the Midnight Collective, an underground community built around style, speed, and risk-taking.
When the game’s protagonist finds himself needing help from a fixer, the hidden side of the R1K begins to unravel, pulling players into a world of rival crews, dangerous pursuits, and shifting alliances.
A Living PvPvE Driving World
Maverick describes Clutch as a living PvPvE action-driving world, where players compete for reputation, rewards, and position while navigating dynamic events and missions.
The game will feature a mix of structured races and spontaneous open-world activities designed to create unpredictable moments. According to the studio, missions will challenge players to think creatively while combining racing, pursuits, escapes, and sandbox-style action.
Deep Vehicle Customization
Customization is a major focus for Clutch. Maverick says its proprietary physics engine and personalization systems are designed to make vehicles feel unique beyond simple performance upgrades.
Players will be able to customize everything from visual styling to smaller ownership details, creating cars that reflect both their identity and driving style. The game aims to reward creative expression just as much as competitive success.
More Reveals Coming This Week
The first look at Clutch’s story, cast, world, and gameplay is scheduled to debut during Summer Game Fest on June 5.
“Our mission from day one is for Clutch to push the genre into a new era, innovate through new types of open-world sandbox gameplay and deliver a generational leap on the staples of why we love driving games,” said Mike Brown, Creative Director and Founder of Maverick Games.
