Solo developer Simsang Yoon and publisher Line Games have released the first playable demo for Come to my Party!, a narrative-driven visual novel that explores childhood, family pressure, friendship, and growing up in late-1990s South Korea.
The announcement was made during the Women-Led Games Showcase, where the game also received a new trailer. The demo marks the first time international audiences can experience the story in fully localized English.
A Birthday Party Worth Fighting For
Come to my Party! follows Jimin, a 10-year-old girl who feels like she never gets anything of her own.
As the middle child in her family, Jimin constantly shares everything from clothes to food. Her life changes when her mother makes a deal: if she can become class president, she’ll finally get a birthday party of her own.
That simple goal becomes the foundation for a coming-of-age story filled with school politics, friendships, family struggles, and personal growth.
Twelve Endings Shaped by Your Choices
Player decisions play a major role throughout the story.
Every conversation, friendship, and choice can influence Jimin’s path, leading to one of 12 different endings. Whether Jimin achieves her goal and how her relationships evolve depend entirely on the player’s actions.
The game’s branching narrative encourages multiple playthroughs to uncover different outcomes and character stories.
Growing Up in 1990s South Korea
One of the game’s defining features is its setting.
Come to my Party! recreates everyday childhood experiences in late-1990s South Korea through schoolyard gossip, family interactions, and a variety of mini-games inspired by the era.
Players will meet classmates with their own personalities, struggles, and secrets, including characters like Eunji and Daeun, as they navigate the social dynamics of elementary school life.
Humor and Heartbreak
While the game tackles themes such as sibling comparisons, family expectations, and feeling overlooked, it balances those heavier moments with humor and warmth.
The result is a story that moves between comedy and emotional drama, capturing the highs and lows of childhood through Jimin’s perspective.
A Handcrafted Solo Project
Simsang Yoon describes Come to my Party! as a deeply personal story created entirely by hand.
The game features hand-crafted artwork and storytelling, with the developer emphasizing that no AI-generated content was used during production.
The demo is available now on Steam and includes multiple days of gameplay featuring major story moments, choices, mini-games, and branching paths. A release date for the full game has not yet been announced.
