Bandai Namco Entertainment America has released a new story trailer for Echoes of Aincrad, the upcoming action RPG set in the Sword Art Online universe. The trailer arrives ahead of the game’s July 10, 2026, launch and gives fans another look at the deadly situation inside the floating castle of Aincrad.
The trailer focuses on players and familiar characters reacting to the truth of their new reality: they are trapped inside Aincrad, and death in the virtual space means death in the real one.
Surviving Aincrad
Echoes of Aincrad places players in the role of a hero trying to unite survivors, clear the game, and escape. As panic spreads through the trapped player base, the story centers on forming bonds, building trust, and taking up the fight against the dangers waiting throughout the castle.
The latest footage also confirms several familiar Sword Art Online characters, including Asuna, Agil, and Lisbeth.
Partners and Combat Roles
Players will rely on partners and their Special Skills to survive tougher battles. Echoes of Aincrad uses a Switch System that lets allies shift between offensive and support roles, allowing them to attack enemies or help the player recover during combat.
That party-focused setup should add a stronger tactical layer to the action RPG, especially as players decide which roles best fit each encounter.
Launching July 10
Echoes of Aincrad launches July 10, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are available now.
