Arc System Works has announced Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow, a tactical counter-timeline RPG launching September 24, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The game is set in a ruined Tokyo where reality has begun to break down, supernatural beings roam the city, and strange phenomena are spreading through the population. Pre-orders and select store pages are live now alongside the reveal trailer.
A Supernatural Mystery in Tokyo
Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow follows Soma Hoshigami, a young delivery worker attacked by a supernatural creature and transformed into a “half-turned” being. After the incident, Soma is taken in as “lost property” by Rena Hizuki, an investigator with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Anomaly Squad.
Together, Rena and Soma investigate cases tied to the city’s collapse, including the spread of a drug called Tiny True, strange Stigma markings appearing on young people, and a cult moving behind the scenes.
Tactical Counter-Timeline Combat
Combat uses a system built around stacking skills over time to deal heavy damage. Players can pause or slow battles to read enemy attacks, track skill cooldowns, and plan their next move.
The Counter-Timeline system is designed to give players room to think through each encounter while still supporting aggressive, action-like play once they understand the flow of battle.
Rena and Soma Lead the Fight
Rena Hizuki is voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa. She is a 28-year-old investigator whose Stigma spreads across her body. Her Demon Eye lets her see her own future, while her cursed ceremonial blade can interfere with space and attack enemies through the power of severance.
Soma Hoshigami is voiced by Itsuki Tousi. Considered non-human for administrative purposes after his transformation, Soma fights through distorted space, manifesting conceptual fangs and jaws through punches and kicks.
Pre-Order Bonuses
Physical pre-orders and digital early purchases will include the Voidfall extra battle, three additional skins for each character, and 16 high-difficulty battles available at launch.
