Resident Evil Veronica Trailer Showcases Code Veronica Remake

Capcom took to the Summer Game Fest 2026 Showcase to finally reveal the next long-awaited Resident Evil remake — Resident Evil Veronica.

The trailer begins with an extended first-person sequence showing a character arriving at an apartment, which their brother is apparently staying at. It quickly becomes apparent that this is Claire Redfield, the younger sister of Chris Redfield, who first debuted in Resident Evil 2. Towards the end of the trailer, we see glimpses of the antagonistic Alfred Ashford, the Rockfort Island setting, and, seemingly, the iconic Umbrella operative HUNK.

The video ends with the reveal that Resident Evil Veronica will be released in 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

When did the original Resident Evil: Code Veronica come out?

Resident Evil: Code Veronica originally debuted on the Sega Dreamcast on February 3, 2000. An updated version, dubbed Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, was released for the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 in 2001, then for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. This definitive version added new cutscenes and additional story details, as well as numerous alterations to the visuals. Code Veronica X would later be ported to the PS3, Xbox 360, and PS4.
