Playable Worlds has announced that Stars Reach will launch into Steam Early Access this summer. The science-fantasy sandbox MMORPG comes from Raph Koster, known for his work on Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies.
The game is built around a persistent galaxy where players can explore planets, build homes, gather resources, craft, trade, fight, and shape the worlds they find.
A Galaxy Shaped by Players
In Stars Reach, player actions can change planets over time. Forests can grow or burn, rivers can be redirected, creatures can migrate, and settlements can expand into larger communities.
The game uses a single persistent universe with no resets, allowing the galaxy to change as players leave their mark.
Classless Progression and Player Economy
Stars Reach does not use fixed classes. Players can build their character around exploration, crafting, trading, combat, leadership, or a mix of roles.
The Early Access version will include multiple planets, resource gathering, combat, crafting, and player trading. Future updates will add features such as factions, politics, PvP, and a planet-eating hive mind threat.
Early Access Packs Revealed
Players can choose from three paid Early Access tiers: the Firstlight Pack for $29.99, Voyager Pack for $49.99, and Cosmonaut Pack for $79.99. Each pack includes different rewards and cosmetics.
