Square Enix has announced that Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1, 2026. The announcement arrived on the eighth anniversary of the Octopath Traveler series.
A new trailer has also been released to mark the announcement.
Both Games Get Switch 2 Upgrades
The Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II have been optimized from their original Nintendo Switch releases.
Both games will feature improved resolution and frame rate on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players a cleaner way to revisit Square Enix’s HD-2D RPG series.
Pre-Orders Are Live
Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are now available for pre-order digitally and physically as individual games.
Players can also pre-order both titles together digitally through a bundle.
An Eight-Year Milestone
Octopath Traveler first launched on Nintendo Switch in 2018, helping establish Square Enix’s HD-2D RPG style. Since then, the series has shipped and sold more than 7 million copies globally.
