room6 has launched Undergrounded on Steam, sending players beneath Manhattan in search of a lost engagement ring and into a puzzle-adventure dungeon shaped by American history.
The game follows Scott, a young man from Manhattan whose marriage proposal goes badly. After being rejected, he drops the ring into a storm drain, only for it to fall into a strange underground space filled with pieces of America’s past.
A Dungeon Built From History
Undergrounded plays out in an isometric dungeon, with each floor having its own theme. Players will move through areas inspired by different eras and cultural touchstones, including an ’80s movie theater, the space race, the Old West, and a speakeasy from the Roaring Twenties.
As Scott searches for his ring, he meets others who have also lost something. Helping them may also help him figure out what he is really chasing.
Retro Games and Puzzle Solving
The adventure mixes puzzle solving, mystery, and boss encounters. When Scott gets stuck, a cheerful canary companion can offer hints to keep things moving.
Boss fights use retro arcade cabinets, letting players turn old-school games into tools for survival. It gives Undergrounded a strange hook: part dungeon crawl, part cultural time capsule, part arcade tribute.
