Tag of Joy and Headup have announced Crowns and Pawns: Amber Road, the next point-and-click adventure in the Crowns and Pawns series.
Revealed during Telltale’s Choices Matter Festival on Steam, the game follows Milda Kovas as she travels across Europe to clear her name after being accused of stealing a rare amber artifact known as the Sun stone.
Milda Returns for a New Case
Crowns and Pawns: Amber Road begins with Milda accused of stealing the Sun stone, a piece of amber tied to strange powers.
Fragments of the larger artifact are said to be scattered along the Amber Road. To prove her innocence, Milda heads to Lithuania and starts following the trail across the continent.
Baltic Myths and European History
The story pulls from Baltic myths, legends, historical figures, and real places across Europe.
Players will visit locations in Lithuania, Austria, Italy, and more while meeting a cast of new and returning characters. The game also features full voice acting from performers tied to Monkey Island, Oxenfree, The Wolf Among Us, God of War, and Unforeseen Incidents.
Classic Point-and-Click Puzzle Solving
Crowns and Pawns: Amber Road keeps the series focused on item collection, notes, riddles, and dialogue-driven puzzle solving.
Players can combine items, talk through problems, and customize Milda’s appearance, with some outfit choices also factoring into puzzle solutions.
Hand-Painted 4K Art
The sequel features 4K hand-painted background art with modern visual touches.
Music comes from Daniel Pharos, known for A New Beginning, Memoria, and Blackguards. The game will support mouse and gamepad controls.
