Arc System Works America has announced that Donutal will launch on September 3, 2026, for Steam.
The alien conversation adventure game also received a new character-introduction trailer showcasing its strange cast of alien visitors and their possible reasons for coming to Earth.
Interview Aliens at a Space Port
Donutal takes place in 2206 at an International Space Port built on the remains of the former International Space Station.
Players take on the role of a Chief Extraterrestrial Counselor who wakes from 150 years of cryosleep with a massive debt and no memory of taking it on. To repay it, they must interview aliens seeking entry to Earth.
Some visitors arrive for tourism, study, immigration, asylum, or crime. Each interview asks players to judge motives, risks, and the possible effect each alien could have on Earth.
Conversations Drive the Mystery
Donutal centers on group screening and conversation.
Players interview groups of up to eight aliens, then use what they say, who they defend, and who they suspect to decide who gains entry.
The game also lets players bring up to two aliens into the interview room at once. Their answers can shift depending on who stands next to them, giving players a chance to catch contradictions or reveal hidden motives.
Choices Change Earth
Every decision in Donutal can affect the planet.
Each morning, the news shows how the previous day’s choices changed events on Earth. Those outcomes also shape the player’s debt, their chance to finally step onto Earth, and the state of the planet when they do.
Early Purchase Soundtrack Bonus
Players who buy Donutal between September 3 and November 30 will receive future access to the Donutal Original Soundtrack at no extra cost.
The soundtrack includes 13 in-game tracks. Arc System Works will share access timing later.
