Alpha Channel has announced that TankRat will launch on January 15 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
The release date was revealed during gamescom Opening Night Live alongside an extended trailer set to William Blake’s “The Tyger.”
Whittaker Enters the ECA
TankRat follows Whittaker, a digitized human consciousness known as a Sleepwalker.
Whittaker can fuse with customizable tanks and heads into the Event Containment Area, a war-torn wasteland filled with machines called Tankrats. His goal is to reach the fabled city of Highpoint, though the search quickly pushes into questions of identity, power, and survival.
Tanks Shape Each Run
Players can choose between light and medium tanks.
The light tank focuses on speed, dodging, and quick escapes, while the medium tank takes more damage and hits harder. TankRat also includes more than 25 weapons, including 90mm cannons for heavy damage and 10mm cannons for long-range shots.
Scrap Matters as Much as Firepower
TankRat puts salvage at the center of survival.
Players will dismantle enemy tanks, collect parts, and use them to alter their own build. Each part can bring perks, advantages, and new ways to handle fights across the ECA.
Six Areas and Seven Bosses
TankRat will feature six areas to explore and seven large mechanical bosses.
Alpha Channel describes the game as a mix of harsh tank combat, post-apocalyptic sci-fi, and kitbashed machine design.
