The Marvelous Raincaster of Yell Holler Gets a Free Steam Demo

The Marvelous Raincaster of Yell Holler has released a Steam demo for LudoNarraCon. Ozark-based developer Brain&Brain’s time-looping puzzle ballad asks you to rearrange a story told through verse and song, changing events as you move its stanzas.

The full game is scheduled for Steam and consoles in 2027.

Rearrange a Rooster’s Tale to Change Events

You play as a folklorist visiting the Ozarks, trying to make sense of local lore delivered by an unreliable storyteller. Each stanza represents a moment in time, so moving one changes how later events unfold.

The demo follows Rooster, a self-proclaimed mayor trying to gather a group of critters for a shindig. You’ll arrange characters within the poem, collect useful folk wisdom, and return to the beginning to test different sequences.

The goal is to piece together the tale of a supposedly legendary weather-making rooster—and work out which details you can trust.

Music and Folk Wisdom Provide Puzzle Clues

Music forms part of the puzzle system. Each character has an associated instrument that joins the song during their stanza and, when placed correctly, provides an audio clue.

Your notebook records folk wisdom gathered from the ballad and souvenirs of past events. Those scraps of lore help guide your next arrangement.

The hand-drawn cast draws from Ozark plants and wildlife, including noisy cicadas, a cranky terrapin, a banjo-playing raccoon, and a possum with a death wish. A traveling salesman—or conman—also offers assistance.

You can play the Steam demo now ahead of its 2027 release.
