The Killing Stone leaves Steam Early Access on October 21, 2026, with its fourth and final chapter, The Reckoning. Developer Question, the studio behind The Blackout Club and The Magic Circle, also announced versions for the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The occult horror deckbuilder will cost $19.99. Its first-person adventure sends you to the Arctic Circle to save a cursed family by beating demons at their own game.
The Reckoning Decides the Svangard Family’s Fate
The 1.0 release brings together the decks you’ve built across the first three chapters for a series of climactic rituals that determine the Svangard clan’s future.
Since entering Early Access in February, The Killing Stone has added optional questlines, adjusted decks and combat encounters, and refined its bargaining and reward systems.
Question co-owner and narrative director Jordan Thomas said player requests helped guide the addition of strategic cards, a more intricate narrative, expanded voice acting, and optional choices that affect the family’s endings.
Stack Your Reserve and Negotiate With Demons
You play as the Maven, a practitioner of the dark arts, as you investigate Mariken Svangård’s death. Conversations with family members and animal familiars provide clues, while key decisions change individual characters’ outcomes.
Battles take place on a ceremonial board centered around the Fanghella, also known as the Killing Stone. Magical creature figurines, spells, and incantations form your tactical arsenal.
The Reserve system lets you stack units and strengthen incantations above the battle line before deploying them. Demonic bargains add another consideration: contracts and ritual outcomes can grant permanent benefits or penalties that follow you into the final reckoning.
Emma Gregory and Liam O’Brien Voice Two Versions of the Story
The cast includes Emma Gregory (Baldur’s Gate 3) and Critical Role’s Liam O’Brien.
Experience the full story in either 17th-century English or contemporary prose, with customizable text and voiceover options for both styles.
The Killing Stone launches into 1.0 on Steam on October 21.
