Strange Scaffold and publisher Frosty Pop have announced El Paso, Elsewhere 2, the sequel to the 2023 neo-noir shooter El Paso, Elsewhere. Revealed during the PC Gaming Show, the follow-up is set to launch in 2027 for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X|S.
The sequel once again follows James Savage as he battles supernatural forces across reality-bending locations. Like the original, El Paso, Elsewhere 2 blends fast third-person shooting with introspective storytelling, horror imagery, and surreal level design.
James Savage Returns
Set after the events of the first game, El Paso, Elsewhere 2 sends James Savage across the United States as he hunts monsters and seals away supernatural threats.
This time, James is betrayed by a close friend and pulled into the Void to repay a terrible debt to an eldritch horror. After killing the monster he loved to save the world, James now has to save the person who betrayed him to save himself.
The game will feature fully voiced cutscenes and a new story focused on grief, recovery, and the supernatural fallout surrounding James’ life.
New Abilities and Weapons
El Paso, Elsewhere 2 expands the original’s gunplay with new vampiric abilities.
Players can dive off thin air, backflip off enemies, and feed on blood that erupts from opponents after staking them. The sequel also includes 15 weapons, ranging from Western revolvers and automatic shotguns to a tommy gun that fires vampire-killing stakes.
Across more than 20 handcrafted levels, players will fight gargoyles, possessed animatronics, gun-toting vampires, Frankenstein, goblin shamans, biblically accurate angels, and other supernatural enemies.
Reality-Bending Locations
The sequel’s levels will take players through nightclubs, multidimensional libraries, strange suburbs, and lairs tied to eldritch horrors.
Strange Scaffold studio head Xalavier Nelson Jr. said the team plans to build on what worked in the original while using existing art and new ideas to create gameplay the studio could not have attempted before.
New Music From Returning Talent
El Paso, Elsewhere 2 will feature an original hip-hop horror rap album produced by RJ Lake, whose credits include I Am Your Beast, UNBEATABLE, and the original El Paso, Elsewhere.
The game will also include a multi-genre instrumental soundtrack from Chicago-based producer kalibration.
