Shueisha Games has announced Seasons of Books and Keys, a drama-like adventure based on Honobu Yonezawa’s bestselling mystery novel. The game will launch this winter for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Developed by iMel, the adaptation follows two high school library committee members as small after-school requests begin turning into stranger cases.
A Library Mystery With Full Voice Acting
Seasons of Books and Keys centers on Jiro Horikawa and Shimon Matsukura, two boys on the library committee who keep getting pulled into odd situations.
The cases include a safe that will not open, stolen exam questions, the last book read by an upperclassman who died by suicide, and a secret between the two leads.
Players take on the role of Jiro, listening to each request that comes into the library and piecing together details until the truth starts to show.
New Episode Written by Honobu Yonezawa
The game adapts the novel series from Yonezawa, known for Hyouka, the Shoushimin Series, and The Samurai and the Prisoner.
This version will include full voice acting, colored illustrations, and a new original episode titled Used Kitan, written by Yonezawa for the game.
Character art comes from Yoko Tanji, who also illustrated the original novel’s key visual.
Meet Jiro and Shimon
Jiro Horikawa is voiced by Kazuki Ura. He has an easygoing attitude but pays close attention to detail when problems come his way.
Shimon Matsukura is voiced by Yuichirou Umehara. He is sharp, dry, and often reads older than his age, yet his time with Jiro keeps pulling him into new cases.

Shueisha Games describes Seasons of Books and Keys as a drama-like adventure that blends the feel of reading a mystery with the presentation of a self-contained drama.
The game will support Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. Pricing and ratings have not been announced yet.
