Santa Barbara Games has announced Voidwood, a 1-4 player co-op survival horror game coming to Steam in 2027.
The game casts players as children lost in a cursed forest, where daylight gives them time to gather supplies and nightfall turns the woods into a hunting ground.
Explore by Day, Survive by Night
Voidwood splits its loop between preparation and survival.
During the day, players can search the forest for supplies, craft tools, and decide how far they want to push before heading back. The longer they stay out, the less time they have to return before the light fades.
At night, The Beast arrives. It cannot be killed, so players need to hide, run, and work together to escape.
Your Voice Can Save or Doom You
Voidwood uses proximity chat to make communication part of the horror.
Players need to talk to coordinate routes, warn each other, and stay together. The catch is that sound can also draw threats closer, turning every callout into a risk.
Runs Feed Camp Progression
Each escape helps set up the next attempt.
Supplies carried out of the forest can become camp upgrades, new tools, and better strategies for later runs. That structure gives groups a reason to return, test new plans, and try to survive a little longer.
Playable at PAX West 2026
Voidwood will get its first public hands-on demo at PAX West 2026 in Seattle from September 4-7.
Attendees can try the game at Booth #744. The preview will only be playable in person at the show.
