Panic will reveal new Playdate Season Three details during a Playdate Update Showcase airing September 9 at 9 AM PT.
The showcase will stream on Panic’s YouTube channel and live.panic.com, with new details on the games included in Season Three and when Playdate owners can start playing them.
Season Three Gets the Spotlight
Playdate Season Three is the next curated game collection for Panic’s crank-equipped handheld.
As with earlier seasons, the games are made for Playdate and roll out weekly after the season begins, giving owners a shared lineup of surprise releases.
Panic Follows Up Recent Refund News
The showcase follows Panic’s recent refund of tariff-related surcharges to affected Playdate customers.
Panic co-founder Cabel Sasser said the company viewed the refunded tariff money as customer money, not Panic’s to keep.
Playdate Sales Pass 80,000
Panic says it has sold over 80,000 Playdate units to date.
The handheld is currently out of stock through Panic’s store, but attendees at Portland Retro Gaming Expo from October 9-11 will be able to buy one in person at the company’s booth. Customers can also sign up for stock notifications through the Playdate shop.
Season 2 Found Its Audience
Panic also said Playdate Season 2 has passed 15,000 purchases since launching May 28, 2025.
That gives Season Three a clear base to build from, especially for players who like the weekly surprise-drop format.
Watch the Showcase Tomorrow
The Playdate Update Showcase airs September 9 at 9 AM PT.
Panic says the presentation will cover the games in Playdate Season Three and reveal when the season rollout begins.
