Signal Veil puts a haunted cellphone at the center of a high school horror story. Publisher Serafini Productions and Chilean developer Time Hunters have announced the third-person survival horror game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The reveal includes an announcement trailer introducing its fixed-camera exploration, psychological horror, and 90s anime-inspired visuals.
A Missing Mother and a School Full of Spirits
You play as Aki Mizuno, a teenager whose mother disappears, leaving behind an old cellphone that responds to spirits others can’t see.
As disappearances spread through Nishikawa High School, Aki must piece together a past obscured by false memories and silence. The phone guides her—and helps her confront the entities roaming its halls.
Time Hunters cites Resident Evil and Silent Hill as survival horror influences, alongside anime inspirations including Another and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Your Phone Helps Detect and Purge Entities
The cellphone signals nearby supernatural activity through vibrations, static, and visual distortions. Its camera reveals hidden objects and spiritual imprints, while its flash can stun entities.
Defeating a spirit requires a sequence of actions: detect it, provoke it, stun it, expose its essence, and purge it permanently. Each entity behaves differently, making observation and positioning part of the fight.
Fixed camera angles limit your view, while scarce medicine, ammunition, and mystical or improvised weapons make careless encounters costly.
Aki’s Sanity Changes the Threat
Physical survival is only part of the problem. As Aki’s mental state deteriorates, her surroundings shift, enemies become less predictable, and her fighting grows more desperate.
The system adds another consideration to exploration and combat, with limited supplies leaving little room to solve every encounter through force.
Signal Veil is currently in development, and no release date has been announced. You can wishlist it on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Epic Games Store.
