Bad Magpie has a playable demo on Steam and Xbox for PC, giving you an early chance to cause trouble as a lonely, one-winged bird. UK developer Milktooth released the demo as part of LudoNarraCon, the festival celebrating storytelling in games.
The narrative adventure is planned for a 2027 release on PC via Steam and Xbox platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and Cloud, with day-one Xbox Game Pass availability.
Steal Shiny Things to Impress a Fallen Star
You play as a magpie abandoned by her flock, collecting trinkets in the hope of winning a fallen star’s affection. The star wants shiny objects, and your bird sees an opportunity to cure her loneliness.
That pursuit takes you through a small, densely packed, non-linear setting filled with objects to peck, steal, combine, and interfere with.
A mysterious recurring vision also follows the magpie, raising questions that her fixation on the star threatens to push aside.
Cartoon Logic Gives Puzzles Multiple Solutions
Bad Magpie encourages experimentation, with multiple solutions to every puzzle. Screeching into a megaphone can shatter glass, while pecking flint can start a fire.
The game’s flexible cartoon logic rewards curiosity—and gives you plenty of chances to make a mess while you search for your next gift.
