Outcast Tales launches free on PC via Steam on October 26, 2026. Hardlane Studio announced the date during the Convergence Showcase, introducing a party-based RPG where your companions’ personalities can matter as much as their combat skills.
You’ll assemble a trio of outcasts and send them into a hostile wasteland populated by mutants and desert raiders. Keeping them alive is one problem. Getting them to tolerate each other is another.
Your Party Can Become Friends, Lovers, or Rivals
Each character brings a distinct personality to the group. As you play, their relationships can develop into friendships, romances, or outright hostility, affecting their outlook and gameplay.
Your decisions between battles shape those connections and the story. Pairing characters with opposing views can create friction: a Pacifist might want to talk through a problem while a gun-toting Daredevil prefers to shoot.
Different party combinations also lead to different narrative events, giving you reasons to experiment across runs.
Build Synergies in Tactical Turn-Based Battles
Combat uses tactical turn-based encounters, with squad abilities that let you build powerful combinations.
Relationships add another consideration to party building. Choosing three characters means weighing their skills alongside how their personalities might interact under pressure.
