Surfpunk has released an expanded Steam Next Fest demo, letting you surf, fight, and scavenge solo or with up to three friends. Developer Double Stallion and co-publisher Vendetta’s action RPG is playable through October 26, ahead of its planned Early Access release.
The update adds a reworked forge, 32 mods, four skills, three cutscenes, and additional cosmetics.
New Tools for Your Raider Crew
Lobby codes make it easier to join friends, while a movement speed boost helps solo players cover more ground.
Players who join on October 19 or 20 can also earn exclusive cosmetics during the first two days of Steam Next Fest.
Surf Between Islands and Fight for Evress
Set on the flooded planet of Evora, Surfpunk casts you as a Raider searching for Evress, an ancient energy source that powers humanity’s seafaring technology.
The same resource attracts the Sumi, ink-like creatures infesting the ruins. You’ll fight through them using one of four weapon classes: sword, pistols, anchor, or guitar, each with different abilities, movement, and team roles.
Your Rushboard handles travel between islands, towing a loot barge and riding the massive tsunamis that threaten your expeditions.
Bring Back Loot and Build Your Raider
Procedurally generated islands change the routes and encounters across missions. Returning with treasure lets you develop your Raider through skills, modifiers, equipment, attributes, cosmetics, and higher difficulty settings.
The game pairs its nautical punk character designs with anime-inspired visuals and a surf-rock soundtrack.
You can play the updated Surfpunk demo on Steam through October 26.
