The console versions of Street Fighter 4 will not have characters exclusive to one platform.
Producer Yoshinori Ono has stated in an interview that,
“I don’t want to give an exclusive character for any particular console,”
“And that applies to downloadable characters as well … because it’s not very fair.”
This was in a response to Project Soul’s Soul Calibur IV including platform specific characters for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
In addition, Cammy has been confirmed to be a playable character for the console versions. Dan, Fei Long, and Sheng Long are speculated to be included as well although no official confirmation was stated.
In an interview with 1UP, Ono gives an explaination, “Figuring out the right number of characters is a lot like chess. You need to know the rules well, and things need to be balanced properly. We’ll see what we ultimately end up with,”
Yoshinori Ono also stated that he plans to reveal more details at this years Tokyo Game Show. With American arcades getting Street Fighter 4, the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 versions are due for release next year.
