FLAME x BLAZE Mobile MOBA Game Announced From Square Enix

Square Enix has announced a MOBA mobile game called FLAME x BLAZE at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The premise is to engage in single or multiplayer matches on your phone. In taking the role as “Agent,” players can team up with two friends for 3v3 matches while commanding monsters, leveling up and working together to destroy the opponent’s guardian.

Customzing one’s playstyle to fit the scenario at hand, whether it invovles battling against monsters, building up defenses, or going head to head with other agents is key to success. After a certain amount of time, guardians come to life and begin a all out assault on each other. Players are rewarded with new equipment, characters, and abilities over time with the Crimson and Blue Flame nations.

Hironori Okayama, who previously worked Kingdom Hearts Unchained x, and Yuji Abe (Final Fantasy XIII) will be leading as director of the mobile game. You may notice the character designs bear resemblance to The World Ends With You. That is due to the work of Gen Kobayashi, who is working on the visual aesthetics as well.

The open beta is expected for a Winter 2016 date, with the release of the North American version to follow after the open beta ends in Japan.
