Age of Empires: Definitive Edition Announced

At the end of the PC Gaming press conference at E3 2017, Adam Isgreen from Microsoft Studios took the stage to announce Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the original Age of Empires, which came out in 1997. It was a real-time strategy game that challenged players to develop a civilization, starting with a group of hunter-gatherers and advancing through the Stone Age, the Tool Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age.

In addition to remastered 4K graphics, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will include a remastered soundtrack, new zoom levels, and gameplay improvements. It will be available for the PC later this year and include multiplayer handled through Xbox live. If you’re interested in trying the multiplayer, you can sign up for a beta at the official website.

(At the time this article was written, the website was down, but it should be restored shortly.)

Further Age of Empires announcements were teased for Gamescom in August, since this year marks the series’ 20th anniversary.
