Hardware 2 In the Works?

Hardware 2 is a joint effort being developed by Sony London Studios, Sony Liverpool, and Incognito. This is major news because of the highly talented developers behind this project.

Have you guys even heard of the Hardware Online Arena game released on the PS2 in Europe only? Probably not, but it wasn’t You must also realise that it’s only a concept name, Hardware 2 that is and it’s made very clear by this author.

The previous game allowed you to use Tanks and Jeeps, now you can use Helicopters and Bikes as well. You can completely customize your vehicles with colour, items, weapons and more.

What else is great? The environments, they’re huge and alive. How are they alive? Well you can blow up buildings and have them come crashing down and kill your opponents, how great is that? If you crash a building that falls on to another, it’ll collapse that as well with the real physics.

You can look at it as the next gen Carmageddon meets Twisted metal.

Oh, the best part? It’s possible for a 50 vs. 50 match or a free for all with 100 players! What with this game, Resistance 2 and MAG with so many players in online battles, will newer games have much more players in online games? Even Resistance’s 60 player battles, they might not be as big as 100 or 256, but it’s sure a great start to shaping new games.

There will be 14 game modes, some being the classics that all games usually have, Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch. There will also be mini-games that can appease your mini-game needs with varrying goals.

There will also be some kind of photograph-taking when you kill someone and you can see how painfully they died.

The online part will be very important and they are going to make sure that Clan support is included. You can have a clan emblem, create your own tournaments, and build up your reputation. The reputation is something special, some games encourage that you destroy buildings and kill innocent people, well Hardware 2 is different, you should avoid it… You will need to take the decision if your shot will be accurate enough or else you will kill 50 people, that’s what military is all about. The more ‘clean’ you play, the better your reputation will become.

And screenshots and more will supposedly be told later. Of course there is no *official* announcement on this game. So really it’s all just a rumour for now, but this game is really sounding pretty cool.
