Today, nWay and Hasbro announced Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid; a cross-platform 2D fighting game based on the Power Rangers franchise. Set to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this April, Battle for the Grid features Rangers from the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers up to at least Super Megaforce, judging from the newly released trailer.
The game boasts an “easy to learn but hard to master” combat system that does away with command inputs in favor of focusing on timing your attacks properly. Taehoon Kim, co-founder and CEO of nWay, commented on the game’s concept:
“Power Rangers fans have been asking for a high fidelity fighting game on console and PC that match up iconic Rangers and villains across the expansive Power Rangers multiverse for quite some time now. We wanted to deliver this to the fans and make sure it has cross-play and cross-progression capabilities as we believe playing with friends across multiple platforms at the same time is where the future of gaming is headed.”
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is now available for pre-order on its official website. The base game will cost you $19.99, while the Digital Collector’s Edition, which includes a three character Season Pass, new arcade endings, and a new warrior skin, as well as Lord Drakkon Evo II and MMPR Pink Ranger character skins, will cost you $39.99. Anyone who pre-orders the game will receive the Green Ranger V2 character skin and a digital artbook.
