Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Reveals New Character Trailer Series Ahead of April 24 Launch

With the launch of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 just around the corner, Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive are diving deeper into the game’s playable characters with a new weekly trailer series. The first video spotlights Gustave, an engineer-turned-warrior who has dedicated his final year of life to saving Lumière.

A Unique Cast with Deep Combat Mechanics

Each member of Expedition 33 comes with their own story, motivations, and combat mechanics, giving players plenty of room for strategy and customization. Alongside unique skill trees and weapons, characters introduce distinct gameplay mechanics that evolve throughout their journey to defeat the Paintress.

  • Meet Gustave – Voiced by Charlie Cox (English) and Alexandre Gillet (French), Gustave is a brilliant engineer who has spent his life working on Lumière’s defense and agricultural systems. Now, as a member of Expedition 33, he’s prepared to give his final year to ensuring a future for the city’s children.
  • Reactive Turn-Based Combat – Master each Expeditioner’s unique abilities, weapons, and combat mechanics to outmaneuver the Paintress’ forces.
  • A Dark Fantasy RPG with a Striking Art Style – Step into a stunning world inspired by 19th-century European art, where brushstrokes shape reality and destiny is painted in battle.

The character trailer series will continue leading up to launch, with new videos premiering on Sandfall Interactive’s YouTube channel. Expect deep dives into more Expedition 33 members, each with their own tragic pasts and powerful abilities.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (Day One on Xbox Game Pass), and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on April 24, 2025. Pre-orders are now live.
