SB’s Gaming Memories: Baby’s First Game

After seeing this article on my travels around the Web, I felt I had to talk about my own Ninty memories, starting with my first encounter with the original Super Mario Bros.

I would spend hours in my parents’ room, watching my dad guide Mario through waves of Goombas, Koopas, and Bowser. Being a lass of five years old or so, being able to use something to manipulate the pictures on TV was an amazing concept.

On one such occasion, Dad offered the controls to me and said “Okay, sweetie; it’s your turn.” and gave the controls to me. Long story short, I didn’t want to put them down when bedtime came round…and so began my love of gaming.

Twenty years on, my NES still works like a charm, despite surviving several moves, being zapped by lightning, and power failures, so it’s always ready to take me back to that fateful day the gamer part of me was born.

Happy gaming,

Ahhh I remember my NES, so many days spent playing Mario Bros 3. Mario Bros 3, Sonic 2 for the Megadrive, and Mario Land 2 on the original Gameboy were the foundation of many years hard gaming.

That night in front of the NES quickly evolved into all three gens of the Game Boy, an N64, a PSX, a PS2, and (hopefully) I’ll be welcoming a Wii or DS into my console family.

The PSX years were the golden years for me, FF7, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Die Hard Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot, Ridge Racer… I could go on forever.
