GiLGuL Launches on Steam, Blending Real-Time Tactics with a Haunting Narrative Journey

Skeleton Crew Studio has officially launched GiLGuL, a dramatic new real-time tactics and adventure simulation game now available on Steam with a 30% launch discount. Developed by Production Exabilities, GiLGuL takes players on a hauntingly personal journey through a world caught between life and death, where choices, battles, and bonds all shape the path ahead.

A Realm Between Realities

In GiLGuL, players step into the role of Mitsu Mao, a young woman fighting to escape the Interworld—a mysterious multi-layered realm inhabited by lost souls unable to die. With memories weighing heavily and monsters lurking across each level, Mao must climb floor by floor toward a fragile chance of returning to life.

As she ascends, Mao meets others who once longed for death, their stories unfolding in powerful, dialogue-driven encounters. The decisions you make influence how these narratives resolve, shaping Mao’s relationships and the fate of the Interworld itself.

Dual-Mode Gameplay: Emotion and Execution

GiLGuL divides its gameplay between two distinct but interconnected experiences:

  • Adventure Mode: Dialogue-driven exploration through the surreal Interworld, where player choices impact relationships, backstories, and multiple possible endings.
  • Real-Time Tactics: Strategic combat sequences against grotesque monsters. Players deploy skills, team formations, and summon creatures to survive the onslaught and continue the climb.

From the minds behind Kyoto’s BitSummit and some of Japan’s most creative indie spaces, GiLGuL brings a rare blend of soul, strategy, and storytelling. Whether you’re in it for the tactical combat or the layered human drama, this is one journey you won’t forget.
