Black Desert Heidel Ball 2025 Reveals Wukong, New Continent Edania, and PvP Overhaul

Pearl Abyss held its annual Heidel Ball over the weekend, and this year’s celebration delivered a flood of content updates, quality-of-life changes, and gameplay reworks that will redefine the future of Black Desert Online. Whether you’re a brand-new Adventurer or a PvP veteran, there’s something for everyone in this sweeping update—including the arrival of a new class, a long-teased continent, and the next phase of competitive play.

Welcome Wukong: The Monkey King Joins the Fight

Inspired by Journey to the West, Wukong is a high-mobility melee class who fights with a power pole and awakening weapon, the Jade Pillar. Using his “Fighting Buddha” state, Wukong can summon clones and unleash massive AoE combos while riding his Flying Nimbus for fast-paced traversal. Players can try out Wukong early via the Global Lab starting June 28.

Edania: A New Frontier Awaits

The new continent of Edania, located north of Valencia, launches in two parts. Part 1 features five distinct castles, each filled with lore, region-specific monsters, and unique gear crafting opportunities. A new monster type—<em”>Edania—brings a new “Extra Damage to Edanian Monsters” stat, along with new artifacts and alchemy recipes to boost your combat effectiveness.

Massive UI and QoL Improvements

Pearl Abyss is introducing some much-requested changes to improve daily play:

  • Buff Overview: View all 33 buff types and their exact effects.
  • Enhancement Inventory: Keeps all enhancement mats in one dedicated space.
  • All-in-One Presets: Instantly switch builds between PvE and PvP.
  • World Map & Event Page Rework: Smoother navigation and event tracking.
  • Adventure Log Streamlining: Stat bonuses consolidated and old logs now reward rare cosmetics.

Additionally, Olvia Town will become Olvia School, a new onboarding hub for beginners with training tools, structured quest progression, and a semester-style experience for community bonding.

PvP Overhaul and Master Class Tournament

Pearl Abyss is rebalancing Black Desert’s PvP systems from the ground up:

  • Resistance stats (including grapple) will be removed in PvP zones.
  • PvE/PvP damage bonuses are now clearly separated.
  • Summons will use the same formulas as main characters.
  • Class damage types (Guard, Charge, Assault) will now balance better across matchups.
  • Mouse movement will be disabled for more stable combat.

These changes are being tested in the Global Lab and will roll out in stages. To crown the best of the best, the Master Class tournament is coming this fall—a 1v1 global event where each class, including Wukong, competes for glory, griffon mounts, and exclusive titles.

Mythical Mounts and Sovereign Sub-Weapons

Pearl Abyss teased a new mythical dream horse, which combines the abilities of Doom, Arduanatt, and Diné—capable of sprinting on land, gliding through air, and galloping across water. Players can also expect a new Sovereign-tier sub-weapon combining the powers of Nouver and Kutum into a single, upgradeable weapon.
