Horror fans waiting for their next nightmare were treated to a chilling extended look at Resident Evil Requiem during gamescom Opening Night Live 2025. The latest footage dives deeper into the story of Grace Ashcroft, the young FBI analyst at the heart of Capcom’s next survival horror chapter.
Grace Ashcroft’s Past Comes Into Focus
Set 30 years after the outbreak in Raccoon City, Resident Evil Requiem follows Grace as she investigates a new case that forces her to return to the epicenter of her childhood trauma. Haunted by personal tragedy, Grace must confront both her memories and the horrors that still linger in the shadows.
The new trailer offers glimpses of Grace’s past, contrasting her childhood experiences with the escalating dangers of the present. Capcom promises this will be a defining character-driven entry, blending the series’ legacy of survival horror with a more personal, psychological edge.
Survival Horror Reimagined for a New Generation
Resident Evil Requiem will bring its tension, puzzles, and grotesque monstrosities to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on February 27, 2026.
The game aims to evolve the franchise’s modern formula with more atmospheric exploration and deeper ties to the series’ lore. Expect familiar survival mechanics, limited resources, environmental puzzles, and desperate combat layered over a story that revisits the scars of Raccoon City.
A Milestone Anniversary for Resident Evil
The launch of Requiem will coincide with the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil in March 2026. To mark the occasion, Capcom has unveiled a special 30th anniversary logo alongside a celebratory illustration featuring Grace and a roster of iconic characters from across the franchise’s history.
Capcom has hinted at additional celebratory projects and surprises in the months leading up to the anniversary.
