Songs of Glimmerwick is set to launch on PC later this year, with Eastshade Studios sharing a new trailer and confirming that a Steam demo will arrive on April 7.
The new game comes from the studio behind Eastshade and shifts into a more structured fantasy RPG setup, built around a magic academy where music is used to cast spells. Console versions are also planned, though they are scheduled to arrive after the PC release.
A magic school RPG where songs become spells
Set in the woodland fantasy world of Glimmerwick, the game places players in the role of a student enrolled at a university of magic. In this world, music powers spellcasting, and players will use a flute and a songbook to interact with the environment, solve problems, and move through the story.
The setup blends school life with exploration, as players attend classes, join after-school clubs, make friends, and uncover mysteries spread across the island. Eastshade Studios says the game follows a full in-world year, with seasons, festivals, curses, and other events shaping the experience.
Story quests, gardening, and character progression
Songs of Glimmerwick will include narrative-driven quests centered on its cast of characters and the broader world around the academy. Alongside the main story, players will also be able to tend the university garden, using both ordinary and magical methods to grow crops and influence the environment.
Music-based magic extends into exploration and utility as well. Songs can be used to speak with trees, enchant tools, raise sections of land, and interact with the world in other ways. The game also includes character progression, allowing players to choose skills tied to gardening, trading, and special abilities.
A fully voiced fantasy world
Eastshade Studios says Songs of Glimmerwick will feature a fully voiced cast, with dialogue performances for both major and minor characters. Players will also be able to customize their character’s appearance.
Outside of classes and main quests, the game includes optional activities such as exploring the island, diving for seashells, and joining forest expeditions with the Green Sprites.
Demo arrives April 7
A Steam demo for Songs of Glimmerwick will be available on April 7, giving players an early look at the game ahead of its full PC launch later this year.
