Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts will launch on Steam on April 16, offering players a medieval-themed art-and-workshop sim built around manuscript design, client commissions, and sandbox creativity.
Set in a cozy, creative space with no timers or pressure, the game lets players design strange and elaborate medieval-style artwork using a large library of drag-and-drop assets. From decorated love letters to battle scenes and maps, Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts centers on creating illustrated pieces for a range of clients across the kingdom.
Story Mode and Sandbox Mode are both included
In Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts, players can take on commissions in Story Mode, where they complete requests for different patrons while helping shape a larger royal drama. These assignments range from romantic letters and masquerade ball designs to more bizarre requests from the game’s cast of characters.
For players who want a more open, creative experience, the game also includes Sandbox Mode. This mode removes clients and commissions, instead giving players access to the full asset library and a blank parchment for free creation.
Workshop customization and export options
Players can use money earned from commissions to customize their workshop with furniture, lighting, tapestries, flowers, windows, columns, carpets, and pet companions. Available pets include traditional options like cats and dogs, as well as a tiny dragon.
Completed creations can be saved to an in-game gallery and exported as PNG files for printing or social sharing.
Medieval art tools and creative freedom
The game’s asset library is designed to support a wide range of creations, including letters, invitations, stickers, wallpapers, fantasy maps, and medieval-style recreations of pop culture references. Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts is also built to let players add their own creative flair to each assignment rather than simply follow fixed templates.
A demo is available now on Steam ahead of the full release on April 16.
