Arc System Works America has released a new trailer for River City Saga: Journey to the West ahead of its June 4 launch. Store pages are also live now for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
The game will be priced at $19.99.
Kunio Takes on Journey to the West
River City Saga: Journey to the West is based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. The game reimagines Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, and Tang Sanzang as Kunio characters heading toward Tianzhu in a comedy action-adventure.
Roguelike Action Built for Repeat Runs
The game is a solo roguelike action title where players grow stronger with each run. Secret Skills can appear from gods during stages, giving players new ways to improve stats, abilities, and builds.
There are 80 Secret Skills available, giving players room to experiment across repeat playthroughs.
Three Fighting Styles and River City Cameos
Players start with the speed-focused Sun Wukong and unlock the power-focused Zhu Bajie and long-range Sha Wujing as the story progresses.
Familiar faces from the River City series will also appear, sometimes helping the party and other times showing up as bosses.
