Layoffs Hit Obsidian Entertainment, Mainly from New Vegas Production

Redundancies are no surprise to the gaming industry but most recently, Obsidian Entertainment, has been hit with a unspecified number of layoffs that include long term staffers who worked on the production of Fallout: New Vegas.

NeoGAF has confirmed through various sources like former employees Linkedin’s or Twitter posts that a majority of layoffs signaled, not conclusive, that Zenimax felt unhappy after the release of Fallout: New Vegas leading one to assume that the brand took a hit considerably when Obsidian released the buggy non-number Fallout. It looks apparent that Zenimax does not wish to work with Obsidian or external developers in the future as Fallout 4 will be developed internally at Bethesda Game Studios.

The news comes as Obsidian is currently wrapping up production on the Square Enix published, Dungeon Siege 3, which is set to release June 21, 2011.
