Beautiful, original experiences on the Vita are still a little hard to find, and you’d be hard pressed to find a more enjoyable game on the platform in 2012 than Gravity Rush. The music and art style complement each other well while the player has to make use of shifting gravity in a 3D combat focused environment. Gravity Rush is that one game on Vita that makes me feel like owning a Vita is worth it. I know a lot of people seeing this category won’t think much as many claim the Vita’s library is small. Best PSN – Journey

As I mentioned on our second day’s highlights, it’s rare a downloadable title impresses me. Nine out of ten times, the game really is just a revisiting of platformers from the days of the Genesis and Super Nintendo, at least in my opinion. Journey is that one-tenth. Best PS3 – Twisted Metal
Out of all the games Sony put out this year I’d have to say Twisted Metal captured my heart the most. It brought back that classic car combat gameplay I’ve missed and took it to the next level. With some insane boss fights, a sizable selection of vehicles to choose from all with enough variety to differentiate them, a slew of multiplayer modes, and some of the coolest arenas I had the pleasure of fighting in this was definitely something that kept me glued to my PS3 while. – Diego Escala, Reviews Editor
I can’t think of a multiplayer brand that I associated more with the PlayStation linage. Twisted Metal’s homecoming brought back the chaos and carnage I previously enjoyed in a world where you don’t need friends on your couch to enjoy. Twisted Metal was far from a perfect game, but my time with it was everything I hoped it would be. From the car crushing gameplay, to the maniacal laughter and chatter of Sweet Tooth, the game was every ounce of fun that made the series a household name for PlayStation. – Trevor Stamp, News Editor
Best Mobile Game – Rayman Jungle Run
Runner games have been done to death on the mobile platform, but Rayman Jungle Run brings more traditional platforming mechanics, which do a lot to make the game more enjoyable to play. It takes the gorgeous art style and upbeat music from the beloved Rayman Origins game and adapts what that game evokes into a one button input world, which is what works best with touch. The simplicity in the controls is what makes it work. Since its on Android and iOS you really don’t have an excuse to not play this game. – Austin Adamson, Associate Editor
Honestly, I don’t have much to say here. This was the first year I experienced mobile gaming. Before, I was on the side of all the naysayers who claimed it was too casual. And yet, I grabbed my first smartphone with a gift card and just could not resist buying about fifty dollars worth of games. And as far as that fifty dollars went, Rayman Jungle Run was my favorite. It provided a similar experience to Rayman: Origins without having to skip a beat on the music or visuals, but playable on a phone.
